Three newly opened tasting rooms bring the Northwest wine experience directly to Oregon's North Coast. Wine lovers of all types can enjoy a glass or a flight of wines produced in neighboring regions, sample some small batch fermentations and snack on tasty tidbits at these tasting rooms.
Washington-based Swakane Winery has opened an intimate tasting room in Astoria. Owners Mike and Donna Franks searched the Oregon and Washington coasts for the perfect home for their second retail location. Like their flagship tasting room in Leavenworth, the Astoria storefront features about ten red, white and sweet wines under two proprietary labels: Swakane Winery and WooHoo Wines. Stop in at 240 10th Street on Friday or Saturday 12-6pm to savor a glass, such as the popular berry sangria
In January, Washington's Westport Winery moved its Cannon Beach tasting room to Seaside. This new satellite location includes all the elements of their mothership, Westport Winery Garden Resort in Aberdeen. Along with a great selection of wine, wine accessories and gifts, the new tasting room also offers guests a selection of olive oils, vinegars and gourmet food tastings. Westport Winery Seaside is located at 810 Broadway and is open daily 11am-6pm and until 8pm on Friday and Saturday.
The Winery At Manzanita rolled up its doors for business in late August. Located just a couple of blocks from the beach at 253 Laneda Avenue, this cedar-shingled tasting room and production facility features a cozy courtyard with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. The Winery At Manzanita focuses on a variety of small batch Pacific Northwest wines and produces small batch fermentations on site. In addition to daily wine tastings, guests will also find beer, cider and locally roasted coffee. Breakfast pastries are available as well as small plates for lunch and dinner. DIY S'mores kits are popular snack items to assemble over the fire pits. A welcoming spot for families, wine aficionados and their dogs, The Winery At Manzanita is a gathering place for community and visitors alike.
