Authors Jan and Jack McGowan share the story of Oregon's public beach access in new book titled The Oregon Coast, A Legacy Like No Other.

Protégé Publishing released a new book The Oregon Coast, A Legacy Like No Other. Authors Jack and Jan McGowan share the fascinating story of Oregon's landmark legislation, The Oregon Beach Bill, which secured public accessibility to the entire 362 miles of the Oregon Coast.

Essays will take the reader back to 1874 when the Oregon State Land Board began to sell public tidelands to private owners. It is the story of why Oregon's residents and visitors are able to enjoy the scenic beauty and recreational opportunities that the coastline offers because of the visionary convictions of people like Governor Oswald West and Governor Tom McCall. Readers will find a collection of photos by Rick Schafer, Ray Atkeson Image Archive and Oregon Historical Society; as well as stories about travelling the Oregon Coast Trail. Proceeds from this title will benefit the State Parks Foundation of Oregon
