If you want to know what's fresh at the seafood counters and restaurants on the Oregon Coast, the Oregon Seafood Consumer Guide offers harvest dates for some of Oregon's seafood bounty. If salmon is at the top of your list then you will want to head to the northern Oregon coast during May and early June for Chinook Salmon and July through early September for Coho. The central Oregon coast offers Chinook from mid Spring through early Fall. Chinook season at the southern Oregon coast is May through August. Coho, on the other hand, has no specific season on the central or southern coasts. Pacific Halibut has the shortest season of about two week in late June and early July. Albacore Tuna season is June through October, Pink shrimp April through October and Flounder, Sole, Rockfish and Lingcod can be caught year-round. Dungeness Crab season begins in December and runs through August every year. The Oregon Seafood Consumer Guide is provided by Oregon Sea Grant at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon (541) 737-2714.
