Shoalwater Cove Gallery opens artist printmaking studio in Ilwaco.
Long Beach Peninsula artist, Marie Powell discovered a new approach to creating art and is enjoying every moment. For Marie the addition of a printmaking studio next to her Shoalwater Cove Gallery at the Port of Ilwaco, is a dream come true. Powell began producing vibrant monotype prints last summer and continues to explore the new medium of printmaking. According to Marie, " the printmaking studio allows me to experiment with many different elements and as my work grows in size and complexity it becomes invaluable for the type of art I am creating today." A variety of subject matter ranging from floral designs, forest foliage, coastal subjects, total abstraction and the human form represent her unique style. Her artwork incorporates strong contrasts, vivid colors, collage, printmaking techniques, and a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor and soft pastel. Marie divides her time between the Pacific Northwest and Kerikeri, New Zealand. Shoalwater Cove Gallery, dockside at the Port of Ilwaco, Washington, (360) 642-4040
