Winter whale migration brings visitors to the Oregon Coast during the holidays for Whale Watch Week, December 27-31

During migration, whale watching is one of the top things to do and is a great reason to get outdoors in between Christmas and New Year for Winter Whale Watch Week, December 27-31.Starting mid-December through January, Gray Whales migrate along the Oregon Coast, thousands of miles south to their breeding grounds in Baja. During peak migration, Oregon State Parks staffs 24 prime whale watching sites with trained volunteers who help visitors spot whales during Winter Whale Watch Week. Approximately 18,000 Gray Whales will pass close to shore, making it possible to spot about 30 whales each hour.
