Starting in spring and running through July the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau in partnership with CoastWatch, the volunteer division of the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition, will offer a free series of Tidepool Clinics. The first clinic is set for Saturday, April 21, at noon. Participants should plan on arriving 15 minutes early and be prepared for Oregon Coast weather.
During low tide periods when the water recedes along the beach, exposed rocks reveal small pools of water where colorful, exotic creatures reside. Sea stars live side by side with sea anemones and sea urchins, creating a cornucopia of colors that surrounds Oregon's rocky shores. These are just a few of the coastal marine creatures visitors can discover at the Lincoln City Tidepool Clinics.
Clinics are held at the NW 15th Street beach access, one of Lincoln City's most accessible locations for tide pool exploring on the Central Oregon Coast. Clinics begin with a brief orientation by local experts Fawn Custer, of the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition and Athena Crichton, of the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Custer and Crichton will be your guides and can help you identify the creatures you discover. Clinics last approximately one hour and participants are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback. Read more at 2018 Tidepool Clinics
