Lincoln City's Annual Fall Kite Festival Soars to its 40th Year
Published: 09/10/2018

Colorful kites will take to the skies along the Oregon Coast, October 6-7 at Lincoln City's Fall Kite Festival.
For forty years Lincoln City's Fall Kite Festival has attracted visitors of all ages to Oregon's Central Coast. As long as the wind blows there will be big show kites and high-flying action on the beach, in the center of Lincoln City, at the D-River Wayside from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Honoring a different theme each year, the 2018 festival titled "The Year of the Kite" marks four decades of high-flying fun in Lincoln City. Around noon on both days, the Running of the Bols event takes place where participants compete for bragging rights, who can run the fastest into the wind while harnessed to a doughnut-shaped kite. The festival also features kite flying demonstrations by experts, activities for children and some of the most colorful big kites you will ever see. The Fall Kite Festival is free to attend, and shuttle service is available from Lincoln City Community Center and Lincoln City Outlets.
