Clatsop County Historical Society presents, Held for Observation, a new exhibit at the Heritage Museum in Astoria, Oregon.

Held for Observation, a new medical history exhibit at Clatsop County Heritage Museum includes some medical oddities and chronicles the evolution of medical care in the region. Starting with a maritime hospital dating back to the mid-19th century and leading up to the establishment of Columbia Memorial by the Finnish Lutheran community in 1927, history buffs can feed their curiosity here. See medical devices from the past, view old photographs of hospital buildings and nursing schools, learn about the flu outbreak that killed more than 110 people and find out how an anti-trust case from Astoria reached the Supreme Court in 1988 and put many doctors and clinics out of business.
