Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, Fort Clatsop presents A Town Called Seaside on Sunday, November 19 at 1pm. This is the third program in the monthly In Their Footsteps speaker series.
Gloria Linkey will share her research from her 2017 book, A Town Called Seaside, a decade-by-decade story of Seaside, Oregon - from a summer resort town in the 1940s to the thriving tourist attraction and community it is today. Linkey remembers pre-World War II days, when people walked the "Prom" in fine attire or watched Lone Ranger serials at one of Seaside's two movie theaters. She will also demonstrate how the town has grown and improved with the help of many dedicated people and organizations. A Town Called Seaside will be available for purchase at the Lewis & Clark National Park Association bookstore. There will be a book signing following her presentation.
In Their Footsteps speaker series is an opportunity to meet scholars, authors, and artists. Join the conversation and be inspired by history, people and culture. This free forum is presented at 1pm on Sundays in the Netul River Room at Fort Clatsop Visitor Center, Lewis and Clark National Historic Park.
