Painters from around the corner and across the globe are featured at Haystack Gallery, a Cannon Beach institution for over three decades.

Haystack Gallery has been a Cannon Beach institution for over 30 years. Painters at the downtown Cannon Beach gallery range from local and Northwest artists to some of the most successful painters working today. Among the gallery's most popular artists is Steve Hanks, known for his realist watercolors, many capturing reflective poses of women and children. Hanks consistently appears in the list of top ten American artists by U.S. Art Magazine. The gallery features his limited edition giclee prints. Giclee prints by other highly collected artists you will find here include figurative paintings in a true masters style by Pino and the distinctive watercolors of Rie Munoz.

The gallery also represents -several popular Northwest painters. John Ebner is a watercolor artist whose landscapes and seascapes are captured in realist, impressionist and expressionist styles. He is known for his scenes with "rain people," where colorful raincoats emerge from gray, misty backdrops. Compare his work to that of Michael David Sorensen, another watercolor artist who captures Northwest scenes. Northwest painters working in oil and acrylics are also well represented. -Original oils by Sean Conrad include realist landscapes and bucolic nature scenes showing farmhouses, barns and animals. Sally O'Neill's impressionist landscapes and florals are vibrantly -colored with thickly textured brush strokes. -Landscapes by Don Bishop reflect his impressionist influences including early-California plein air painters and the Hudson River School. You'll also find painting by Cannon Beach resident Michael Tieman. Tieman captures Northwest coastal scenes with an impressionist style combining thick brush strokes and a palette of simple primary -colors. His sculpture is also featured at
the gallery.

Since 1985, Haystack Gallery has been owned by Bill and Patty Coomes. "Bill and I always wanted to showcase a -variety of styles and price points so we could appeal to diverse tastes," said Patty. Haystack Gallery is located at 183 N Hemlock in Cannon Beach, (503) 436-2547.
