Best known as the home to Tillamook Cheese, the Tillamook County Creamery visitor center attracts nearly a million visitors each year. Travelers may also enjoy the Latimer Quilt & Textile Center with displays dating back to 1851 and the Tillamook Air Museum located in a former US Navy blimp hangar, which is the largest clear-span wooden structure in the world. A quick trip to the north leads to a historic Coast Guard boathouse and plentiful fishing charters in the charming port of Garibaldi. A short drive east along Highway 6 leads to the Tillamook Forest Center where visitors can learn more about the forests, check out a fire lookout tower and occasionally see spawning salmon. Just south of Tillamook is Munson Creek Falls State Natural Site, home to the tallest waterfall in the Coast Range. Tillamook is also the northern gateway to the Three Capes Scenic Route, home to a tiny lighthouse, beautiful bay, stunning headlands and great spots for outdoor sports including hiking and kayaking.
