Shop Manzanita

The oceanside hamlet of Manzanita may be described as quiet, quaint and quirky, but the shopping in this small coastal town is definitely uptown.

Article Image With several outstanding shops, Manzanita is quickly becoming a shopping destination. Unfurl, on Laneda, for instance, is a trove of apparel for those seeking natural fibers and who are interested in sustainable farming practices and eco-friendly companies. Clothing made from organic cotton, Tencel, linen, alpaca and bamboo fabric may be found at Unfurl. Local artisans make some of the articles such as soaps, candles, jewelry, eco-art and gifts. Right next door to Unfurl is Syzygy, a shop filled with unique apparel and accessories, jewelry and artworks. Go west on Laneda, the main street through town, and you'll find Salt and Paper, a source for gifts and stationery. Stroll a little farther west to the 444 Laneda Building on the south side of the street and enter the T Spot. This little specialty shop has hand-dyed yarns for knitting, crocheting, felting and spinning. They also offer the choicest organic loose-leaf teas and over 70 kinds of chocolate. A couple doors away is Four Paws on the Beach, where your well-behaved pooch is welcome to accompany you while you shop for premium pet foods, leashes, collars, organic treats, toys and gifts featuring dog and cat portraits. - by Stella Bennett
